Germany Cont.

Another city a new day in Germany.

Today we are in Kölon Germany. It is a larger city than Trier but not as big as Berlin, where we will be tomorrow. Kolon cathedral is one of the world's largest churches, being the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe. The cathedral is known for housing the three wise men relics.

When you first lock your eyes on it, you feel mesmerized. Each time I pass by the church I almost felt it was fake. We American's just aren't used to something that old and beautiful.
What really got me, was the fact that this building survived fourteen hits by aerial bombs during World War II. It did not collapse, but stood tall in an otherwise flattened city.
I really enjoyed the people in Kolon and the history. I cant wait to learn even more about the history or Germany.

(Below is a photo I found off the Internet after the bombings in WWII)

Germany update

Hello, Greetings from Germany...

I am having a great time here. It is Saturday night and the last time I slept in a bed was Thursday night in AZ. I only slept for two hours so I am a little sleep deprived. Our flight consisted of two airplane flights equaling 15hrs long. I was lucky enough to get the middle seat
:(where I sat behind a little girl that loved kicking my chair. Each time I was on the verge to falling asleep, I got a good kick in the back of the seat. By the time my patience was pretty thin, I turned around and asked her parents if she could ask her daughter to stop kicking. Her Father decided to tell me that, "he was sorry but she was trying to get her to fall asleep". Her mother than said, "you can move to open seat and sleep there". Great!

Besides that, I have been venturing through Germany. Tonight we are at Trier, we had dinner in a restaurant underground. We then walked around the Christmas markets and I finally went to H&M! I didn't buy anything but at least I can say I went. Ü
So here I am ready to get a good night sleep for my next adventure in Germany.
~Enjoy life in American, while I do in Germany

This is a picture of the view from my hotel window, pretty sweet.

Happy Finals

Twas the night before finals
Andrew Hund, 1993

Twas the night before finals,
And all through the college,
The students were praying
For last minute knowledge.

Most were quite sleepy,
But none touched their beds,
While visions of essays
Danced in their heads.

Out in the taverns,
A few were still drinking,
And hoping that liquor
Would loosen their thinking.

In my own apartment,
I had been pacing,
And dreading exams
I soon would be facing.

My roommate was speechless,
His nose in his books,
And my comments to him
Drew unfriendly looks.

I drained all the coffee,
And brewed a new pot,
No longer caring
That my nerves were shot.

I stared at my notes,
But my thoughts were muddy,
My eyes went a blur,
I just couldn't study.

"Some pizza might help,"
I said with a shiver,
But each place I called
Refused to deliver.

I'd nearly concluded
That life was too cruel,
With futures depending
On grades had in school.

When all of the sudden,
Our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put-It-Off
Ambled inside.

His spirit was careless,
His manner was mellow,
He looked all around and
He started to bellow.

"What kind of student
Would make such a fuss,
To toss back at teachers
What they tossed at us?"

"On Cliffs Notes! On Crib Notes!
On Last Year's Exams!
On Wingit and Slingit,
And Last Minute Crams!"

His message delivered,
He vanished from sight,
But we heard him exclaiming
Outside in the night.

"Your teachers have pegged you,
So just do your best,
Happy Finals to All,
And to all, a good test."
